Two men were missing and presumed dead after a barge overturned in the Mississippi River last month. The two men fell into the water when the barge capsized while unloading about 700,000 pounds of steel coil.

The accident occurred in northeastern Arkansas near a terminal owned by Houston-based Kinder Morgan about 60 miles north of Memphis, Tenn.

The U.S. Coast Guard and local authorities, including the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Department, searched for the missing men for two days before calling off the search. The river was closed as the search went on, stalling traffic on the heavily navigated waterway.

Investigators said the cause of the accident was still unclear.
